Job shadowing in Greece: how to find a host and plan a useful week
Job shadowing is a staff mobility of 2 to 60 days in which a participant observes colleagues at a host organisation abroad. It receives travel, individual support and 350 € of organisational support per participant, but no course fees. A good week has clear observation goals, a contact person at the host, a mix of observation and discussion, and a plan to share what you saw.

- Start with organisations you already know through eTwinning, EPALE or past projects.

- Choose a host with a similar profile: same level, same learners, same challenges.
- Agree goals, dates and a contact person in writing.
A five-day plan
| Day | Focus |
|---|---|
| Monday | Welcome, tour, meet the staff, agree the observation plan |
| Tuesday | Observe classes or sessions; short daily debrief |
| Wednesday | Observe; join a staff meeting |
| Thursday | Try one activity with support; discuss with the host |
| Friday | Reflection, certificate, plan for sharing at home |
Course plus job shadowing
Many projects combine a structured course and a job shadowing visit. In school and VET this also helps with the rule that courses may take at most 50% of the grant.
Questions coordinators ask us
Can we job-shadow at a training centre rather than a school?
Yes, if the host is relevant to your objectives. Adult education and VET centres often host colleagues from schools and vice versa.
