Everyone who learns with us, works with us or meets us through our projects has the right to be safe. This policy applies to our staff, trainers, volunteers, partners and participants: in Veria, online and during project activities abroad.
If someone is in danger now
Who this policy protects
- Adults who take part in our courses and events.
- Adults at risk: people with disabilities, older people, and people facing barriers, including learners in our vocational programmes.
- Children and young people we meet through school and youth projects.
Our commitments
- We treat everyone with respect. We do not tolerate abuse, harassment, bullying or discrimination of any kind.
- Careful recruitment, including a criminal record certificate where the law requires it.
- We brief staff and trainers on this policy.
- We think about risks before activities such as school visits, outdoor learning and travel.
- Where possible, activities with children have at least two adults present and take place in open view.
- Clear rules for photos, videos and online contact (see below).
Code of conduct for staff and trainers
| We always | We never |
|---|---|
| Keep professional boundaries | Use physical or verbal abuse, or humiliate anyone |
| Work in open view, never alone behind closed doors with a child | Start a personal or sexual relationship with a participant we teach or support |
| Respect privacy, culture and dignity | Give alcohol to, or drink with, anyone under 18 |
| Report a concern on the same day | Message children privately on social media or personal phones |
| Ask before we take a photo | Photograph a child without written consent from a parent or guardian |
| Listen and take every concern seriously | Ignore a concern, or promise to keep it secret |
Photos and videos
- Adults: we ask before we take or publish a photo or video. You can say no.
- Children: only with written consent from a parent or guardian and the school, never with names or details that identify them.
- You can ask us to remove any photo of you at any time.
If you have a concern
- If someone is in immediate danger, call 112.
- Tell our safeguarding lead: eu@akadimoskek.gr (subject “Safeguarding”) or +30 2331 120342.
- Write down what you saw or heard, in your own words, with the date and time.
- We act promptly, keep the matter confidential, and support the person affected.
- Where the law requires it, we report to the police or the public prosecutor. We do not investigate crimes ourselves.

Partners and projects
Our partners agree to these standards. Before any project activity with children or adults at risk, we agree in writing with our partners who is responsible for what. During mobilities, the sending organisation remains responsible for its own participants, and we work closely with its group leaders.
Review
We review this policy from time to time.
This page describes our general approach. It is not a contract and does not create obligations beyond those set by law. Questions? Write to eu@akadimoskek.gr.
