Small enough to feel at home after one day. Rich enough to surprise you every afternoon.
A real Greek town, not a resort
Veria is where Greeks live, study and work. Local prices, cafés full of locals, and people who have time for you. Calm and easy to walk, day and night.
History you can walk through
Ancient Beroea, where Apostle Paul preached. Dozens of Byzantine churches, the Jewish quarter of Barbouta and the riverside Kyriotissa, all in the centre.
A mountain at the door
Mount Vermio rises right above the town. Forest walks and village tavernas in spring and autumn, skiing at Seli and 3-5 Pigadia in winter.
Rivers, gorges and lakes
The Aliakmonas, the longest river in Greece, cuts a gorge just outside Veria. Lakes, dams and green valleys are a short drive away.
The orchard of Greece
In spring the plain of Imathia turns pink. This is the heart of Greece’s peach country, and you taste it in every summer market.
Food and wine to remember
Revani, the syrup cake Veria is famous for. Xinomavro red wine from nearby Naousa. Long dinners on warm evenings, the Greek way.
Festivals and traditions
A town that celebrates
Music in the streets, dancers in costume, a whole plain in blossom. Ask us what is on during your week.
