The short answer

A KA1 staff mobility budget has four main lines: travel (by distance band, higher for green travel), individual support (a daily rate set by your National Agency within an EU range for the destination country), course fees (80 € per participant per day) and organisational support (100 € per participant for courses). Below are the current rates from the 2026 Programme Guide and a worked example for three teachers.

Travel

Travel is a unit cost based on the one-way distance from your organisation to the venue, measured with the Commission’s distance calculator. The amount covers the return journey.

DistanceStandard travelGreen travel
10–99 km28 €56 €
100–499 km211 €285 €
500–1 999 km309 €417 €
2 000–2 999 km395 €535 €
3 000–3 999 km580 €785 €
4 000–7 999 km1 188 €1 188 €
8 000 km or more1 735 €1 735 €

Green travel means mainly low-emission transport such as train, bus or car-sharing. It also gives up to 6 travel days of individual support instead of 2. Below 500 km, participants are expected to travel green as a general rule.

Individual support

Individual support covers accommodation, meals and local transport. For staff, the daily rate depends on the destination country group. Your National Agency sets the exact rate within these ranges:

Destination groupDaily rate range for staff
Group 1107–191 €
Group 2 (includes Greece)95–169 €
Group 384–148 €

The full rate applies up to the 14th day, travel days included. From the 15th day, the rate is 70% of the base rate.

Course fees and organisational support

  • Course fees: 80 € per participant per day of the course. Courses last 2 to 10 days.
  • Organisational support: 100 € per participant for courses and training; 350 € per participant for job shadowing and teaching assignments (200 € after the first 100 participants).
  • Inclusion support: 125 € per participant with fewer opportunities for the organisation, plus 100% of the eligible real costs for the participant.
School and VET projects: the total grant for courses and training is limited to 50% of the awarded project grant, or 20 000 € for projects awarded up to 40 000 €.

Worked example: three teachers from Warsaw to Veria

Three teachers from a school in Warsaw take a 5-day course in Veria, Greece, and fly. The distance is about 1 300 km, so the 500–1 999 km band applies. Check your own distance with the official calculator.
